I have wonderful memories of Betty, or ‘Miss Whiteside’ as I called her when I was 9, as an inspiring piano teacher and amazingly talented lady. Many treasured memories of Betty’s brilliant accompaniment for my mother’s many solos throughout the years, and for the performances of the Dandenong Choral Society. A truly beautiful lady. She will be greatly missed. Mez Evans (Daughter of Ken & Barbara Evans)
A very nice service and farewell for now! To those who organised this special occasion thank you. I believe the Mckay girls, Lesley and Betty, will welcome her to the Heavenly abode and be sharing special memories of their younger days in Officer.
We have been so honoured and delighted to have Betty staying with us here at VMCH (Villa Maria Catholic Homes). A lovely service for a lovely Lady. Sincerely Barb Morrison
I was very fortunate to meet Betty in the last few years. She was an elegant, extremely intelligent and articulate lady who shared her memories of her time at St Margaret’s with me. Will be missed by those who met her at school when she visited.
On behalf of Elizabeth’s sisters Kathleen and Mary and the Whiteside family we would like to thank you all for your very kind thoughts and messages, they are much appreciated.
It was a great tribute to a lady who contributed much to the community. Will be missed by many.
I feel so thankful for being able to share in this beautiful service to Betty. I remember her as a trusty and particular piano teacher for me 1982-4 at St Margaret’s School. I remember “turning pages” for her as she played the harpsichord for the Dandenong Chorale performing Handel’s Messiagh and concerts held at her home in Dandenong. Condolences to all of the family and friends who will be missing Betty.
Betty leaves us with some wonderful memories especially her years of teaching piano at St Margaret’s. She was quiet, dignified, very talented in her gifts of music and also very intelligent. Rest in peace, Betty.
I’ll realy miss Aunty Bett
In 2014, Betty came to St Margarets School to help the students commemorate ANZAC Day. As the Head of History I had researched the military history of Betty’s father, Clair, and contacted Betty to ask if she would like to come and be part of our commemoration. She was thrilled to come and over a cup of tea after the service she shared lots of stories about her connection to the school. I still have a copy of the speech and Powerpoint presentation of Clair’s service if the family would like it. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Betty.
Mark a copy of that would be very much appreciated thank you. If you would like to send me an email to [email protected] to organise a copy, that would be wonderful, I remember that day, the presentation was very well done and Aunty Betty thoroughly enjoyed her time there. Thank you, Marion
Thankyou for allowing me to share in Betty’s funeral
